Our
client is the largest healthcare system between Worcester
and Boston and is committed to meeting the health care needs
of their region by providing advanced care with a community
touch. The 319-bed regional health care system includes two
hospitals and a Wellness Center.
Under
general supervision of the Service Line Director, the
Orthopedic Coordinator assists in planning, administration,
and evaluation of all patient care for a defined group of
patients and for the development of education within the MSL.
Provides leadership and direction in accordance with
organization, Hospital's mission statement, and program
goals and objectives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Management:
-
Manages day-to-day operations of the program. Plans,
implements, and evaluates method of delivery of care
consistent with program's needs and goals.
Collaborates with the Service line manager, other
dept. directors to determine program's needs.
Develops and implements annual goals that support
program goals and are consistent with the Hospital's
goals and mission.

Ensure proper hospital staffing levels to care for
all musculoskeletal patients

Ensure hospital has appropriate equipment and
appropriate instrumentation to support MSL patients
and procedures, in conjunction with Surgical
Services.

Monitor & coordinate patient path of treatment from
first contact, to admission, surgery, post-op stay,
and follow-up, collaborating with Service Line
manager, Ortho surgeons, Dept. directs & key members
of office staffs & surgical services as well as
front line staff.
Education/Resources:
-
Promotes and participates in patient and family
health teaching. Handles patient/family concerns
when appropriate.

Serves as a clinical resource in the delivery of
direct patient care. Supports and participates in
any training education or plan developed by the
Nurse Practice, Quality Improvement and professional
development committees.

Maintains awareness of current trends and changes in
Musculoskeletal Surgery and treatment.

Accepts and supports committee assignments.
Maintains current knowledge of policies and
procedures, Hospital regulations, and other relevant
standards and ensures unit is in compliance.
Maintains currency in field.

Coordinate, develop, and implement pre-op, post-op,
patient education seminars including medical and
surgical follow-up.

Work with nursing education to develop and implement
Clinical pathways.

Coordinate and provide continuing educational
opportunities for musculoskeletal team.
Fiscal:
-
Provide finance department with patient outcomes
data to assist in reimbursement negotiations.

Monitor contribution margin, by procedures in
coordination with Service Line Director.

Ensure the continued fiscal health of the MSL unit,
with appropriate staffing, supplies, services and
reimbursement.
Communication/Collaboration:
-
Work with hospital to ensure that patient and family
hospital experience is an exceptional & pleasant
one.

Work with surgeons to track patient outcomes

Work with hospital marketing and public relations
departments to promote program

Keep required data for center of excellence
designation
Knowledge, Experience and Other Job
Requirements:
-
Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a
Registered Nurse
-
Three years of progressively more responsible
experience
-
ACLS certification preferred
